Asociación de Promotores de la Cultura (APC)

The Association of Cultural Promoters (APC) was legally constituted on February 23, 1990 in accordance with Public Law Number 22 of the protocol of Doctor Ricardo Morales Bermudez, with the creation of the Houses of Culture of Nicaragua, thus culminating work that was begun through local initiatives in 1979.

Thereafter, the APC was legally founded as a non-profit civil organization on April 3, 1990 according to decree Number 26 of the Nicaraguan National Assembly. As required, the legal of the association was published in the Gaceta, the official daily legal publication, having the Registration Number 230290 – 9582 of edition Number 70, April 9, 1990. It is registered in the Central Registry of the Providers of the State with entry number 7135 and is identified as an employer affiliated with the national social security system (INSS) with the number 2A1 – 36165.

The Association for the Development of Culture of Granada began its activities in 1979 as an affiliate of the Association of Cultural Promoters (APC), obtained its legal recognition as a non-profit cultural organization according to the decree of the National Assembly, No. 4266 on 15 June 2005. It has its headquarters of operations in the Palace of Culture “Joaquin Pasos Argüello” of the City of Granada. Its address is: West side of the National Park, telephone and fax number (505)552-4203.

A cultural organization developing socio-cultural projects in “at-risk” communities and sectors, using coordinated actions with social organizations.

MISSION:

To bring together members of the local APC, through social commitment and capacity building, for the promotion of art and culture, working together with different sectors of the city of Granada.

OBJECTIVES:

General: Based on the principals of freedom of creation, expression, and participation, to promote various expressions of art and culture, and to contribute to the revival of the appreciation of traditions, of folklore, both local and national.

OBJETIVOS SPECIFICS:

1. To stimulate the collective growth of the Association in both qualitative and quantitative aspects.
2. To contribute to the academic and cultural preparedness of members of the Association.
3. To promote the various forms of artistic and cultural expression which derive from our historic roots.
4. To promote the understanding, value and handing-over of the architectural heritage and natural landscapes as a way to contribute to the development of tourism of Granada.
5. To establish relations for coordination and cooperation with like-minded organizations and institutions and strive for the participation of social sectors in the promotion of art and culture.
6. To promote acquisition of economic resources and materials needed to develop our cultural activities.

ACTIVITIES OF APC GRANADA:

1. Formation of children: Education of pre-school, instruction of dance and arts,  cultural activities, visits to recreational places, etc
2. Classes of folkloric dance and varieties for adolescents and young people.
3. Tests of dance for groups of different schools.
4. Classes of martial arts.
5.  Aerobics  courses.
6. Theater workshops.
7. Tests of the traditional theater of the Passion of Christ.
8. School of Spanish for foreigners.
9. Seminaries and workshops of other social organizations.
10. Meetings and assemblies of different organisms and institutions.
11. Rents of space for private celebrations.
12. Festivals artistic of organizations and institutions of the government.
13. Presentations of dance and theater.
14. Concerts of music.
15. Painting exhibitions.
16. Recitals of poetry.
17. Store of crafts Nicaragua.
18. Internet service.
